Miriam Overlach is incredibly versatile on the harp. She navigates effortlessly between classical and contemporary, but this all-rounder is happiest when creating her own programmes of works especially written for her instrument. In this regard she is primarily looking for renewal and innovation, in both sound and presentation.
In this varied programme many facets of the harp are illustrated, but the common denominator is the use of electronics. In all five works the sounds of this exceptional instrument are magnified, doubled or shadowed by means of samples, live electronics and/or video. For instance, she will present the world premiere of a work by Johannes Kreidler in which the harp is filmed and live projection deployed in order to create images of countless strings, in a manner reminiscent of pop art.
