Terrapolis x Uitfeest

This concert has already taken place. Click here for our current concert programme.

A few times a year, we organize Terrapolis in De Nijverheid: a concert series devoted to surprising performances that go beyond genres and disciplines. During the Uitfeest, we organize a special edition of Terrapolis.

Show Pony
Show Pony is the solo project of Amsterdam-based American double bassist and singer Laura Nygren. Using beats, synths, strings and lyrics, Show Pony creates atmospheric landscapes to disappear into. During the Uitfeest edition of Terrapolis, Show Pony presents the new solo audiovisual project I May Fall into the Sound, made with Tatiana Rosa & Nina Kay. She takes the listener to the small eroding island of Massancumock, which is expected to disappear into the surrounding sea by 2026.

JÓRMA – THEY/THEM
JÓRMA, the pop art alter ego of Flemish-Rotterdam music maker Jonathan Bonny, presents the interdisciplinary fluid performance THEY/THEM. A shared moment to reflect together on how we look at ‘the other’. At Gaudeamus, JÓRMA will present the most intimate version of this performance so far: a 25-minute duet for singer-songwriter and dancer. JÓRMA describes itself as a ‘music&context maker’ because the context in which its music is presented is crucial for the intended connection with the audience. By curating safe spaces in which the music can be experienced, listeners are encouraged to render themselves vulnerable in the process.

Manuel Kiros Paolini – dance

PAY ATTENTION: Stroboscopes will be used during this concert.

Mees Vervuurt – Homo to Humus
Homo to Humus is a cinematic investigation into the relationship between humans and nature. We have slowly removed ourselves from nature and filled the space thus created with concrete buildings, places where we can ‘grow’. But what is growth? In this film installation, a performer tries to become one with her environment by searching for silence, a way to be with nature. She tries to ‘outgrow’ and slowly fade away to build a new relationship with the earth. But what if she were to reach that point, disappearing into the sand? When only the humus still speaks?

Homo to Humus is a component of the research series called Happy Days, by versatile composer and director Mees Vervuurt. The work will develop into several (live) musical performances over the coming years.

Annabel Schouten & Jurriaan de Vos – Inhout
What harmonies are hidden in the sounds around us? In ‘Inhout,’ you are literally in the front row, lying in a comfortable cargo bike. Annabel Schouten and Jurriaan de Vos take you on an individual sensory experience. Amidst a sizzling Nijverheid, they ask your senses to take the lead. When was the last time you allowed that? An exercise in listening, pausing, and feeling as you’re carried through the Nijverheid in a moving instrument.

Discover the harmony between sound, space, and musicality in places where you wouldn’t have expected it.

Inhout plays in slots of 20 minutes from 12:20 to 18:00 for one visitor per slot. If you want to be sure that you can catch a timeslot, you can reserve a (free) ticket here:
