Sought after composer Kate Moore has come to know studios and concert halls like the back of her hand. For her new project A Beautiful Path she sets off into the wider world. Walking from Oss westwards to the Irish island of Skellig Michael, in stages spread over a year between August 2023 and September 2024, she will compose en plein air. She will kick off the project with an exhibition at the Movement Exposed Gallery Space.
Countless composers drew inspiration for their music from nature. Painters like Vincent van Gogh even created their artworks standing in the landscape that inspired them, braving wind and weather. Like a contemporary troubadour, Moore now allows her new music to emerge directly, in nature. On the Thursday of the Gaudeamus Festival, she will open the exhibition with a performative presentation, once at 19:15 and once at 22:00. After that, the expo will stay on view in Movement Exposed Gallery Space.
This project is supported by Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst.
